Jennifer Lopez recently hurt her face while practicing for the 2025 American Music Awards. The 55-year-old singer and actress shared the news on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, May 13.
In the first photo, Jennifer is seen holding an ice pack to her right eye. She wrote, “So this happened…” In the Nextphoto, you can see a swollen nose with a cut on it. Her right eye also looks bruised, and she added the caption, “(During @amas rehearsals).” There is redness under her eye and on her cheek as well..
In another post she shared that she needed stitches. Jennifer thanked a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon named Dr. Diamond, writing, “Thank you for stitching me up, Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.” She also shared a last photo where she is smiling and looking completely healed.

Jennifer is getting ready to host the 2025 AMAs, which will be held in Las Vegas on Memorial Day (May 26). Even though she got injured, she seems to be feeling better and is focusing on the big event.
This isn’t the first time Jennifer has had a health issue connected to the AMAs. Back in 2009, she fell during a performance and got bruised. Later, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said the fall was caused by a dancer’s sweaty back. During rehearsals, the dancers wore t-shirts, but during the actual show, they were shirtless. When Jennifer stepped on a dancer’s back, her feet slipped, and she fell hard.
Jennifer will not only host the show, but she is also going to perform that night. She is now one of only four artists to host the AMAs twice, joining stars like Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, and Pitbull.
Before the injury, Jennifer had been posting fun AMAs promo videos. She even shared a poster on April 23 saying, “Waiting for AMAs night ✨💚.”
